Youth rush for Police enlistment forms in Accra

Hundreds of young men and women on Monday thronged the premises of the Greater Accra Regional Police Directorate to purchase enlistment forms into the Ghana Police Service.

A copy of the form costs GH¢20, and the rush was in response to an advertisement in the newspapers requesting for applications from professionals drivers, medical laboratory technicians, emergency technicians and medical practitioners.

Others are nurse anaesthetists, pharmacists, medical assistants, legal officers, communication professionals, motor riders, estate managers, public relation practitioners, bandsmen, marine police unit and tailors.

Speaking to GNA in Accra, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Zenge Cyprians, Public Relations Officer at the Directorate said the Police would not meddle in the selection of personnel into the service but allow the committee established to perform its duty and select qualified personnel for the Service.

However, he warned that any police officer found extorting money from applicants with the intention to influence the recruitment process would be punished.

He urged the applicants to follow the laid down procedures and regulations.

ASP Cyprians said the police would undertake background checks on all applicants to recruit committed and disciplined personnel.

The deadline for the submission of forms is Friday, September 30.
