Sly Tetteh’s death is big loss to grassroots football – Issa Hayatou

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Mr. Issa Hayatou has sent his condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Sly Tetteh, owner of Ghana premier league club, Liberty Professionals.

Sly Tetteh who collapsed and died when he was playing a charity match in Cape Coast on September 3, 2011 was laid to rest on Sunday September 4 in Accra.

According to Hayatou, the death of Sly as affectionately called, is a big blow to African football and for that matter grassroots football.

“It’s a big loss to African football especially grassroots football considering his academies in other African countries,” Hayatou said in a statement.

CAF described Sly’s academy as one of the best football academy in Ghana.

Tetteh was a member of the Organising Committee of the African Futsal Championship.

He is credited for raising players like Michael Essien of Chelsea, Sunderland’s Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari of Inter Milan, Kwadwo Asamoah (Udinese) and many others.

As a footballer, Tetteh won the WAFU Cup with Sekondi Hasaacas in 1982.

    father may your soul rest in perfect peace nd may the good lord have mercy on you nd grant u heaven.i will forever miss you since u re the best dad i was blesses with. if i was to come to this world again i would wish u will be ma dad over nd over again rest in perfect peace daddy!!!!!!
