Ghana can absorb more credit facilities – Vice President

John Mahama - Vice President

Vice President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that government has got the capacity to absorb more credit facilities to undertake development projects throughout the country.

He said $800 million of the $3 billion loan passed by Parliament last week would be used for the development of gas production in the Western Region and called for the collaboration of all to help execute the development projects on schedule.

Vice President Mahama gave the assurance on Thursday when he addressed the 2011 National Convention of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International in Accra.

The Convention, under the theme: “Wake up let’s renew our minds” attracted members from all the chapters within Ghana and the neighbouring countries.

Vice President Mahama said government would create an enabling environment for business to flourish in the country in the face of high interest rates, inadequate access to credit facilities and enormous corrupt practices exhibited by some businesses.

He called on Christians to continue to pray for Ghana to maintain the peace and unity that “has been with us over the years.”

Mr Timothy Ati, National President of the Fellowship, called for the elimination of church denominations, tribal and cultural barriers in order to pave way for national unity and love.

He condemned the practice of homosexuality saying “it is a deep scar on the mind of the church and the body of Christ.”

Mr Ati said the Fellowship would take an active role in helping to grow the morals of the Ghanaian society and called for assistance from government to enable them to fight the problems in the society.

He called on all Ghanaians to exhibit a sense of high level professionalism and restraint in order to achieve a violence free election in next year’s general polls.
