DCE lauds revenue collectors’ effort

Nana Baffour Mensah Dakyi, Birim South District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Eastern Region has lauded the efforts of the Assembly’s revenue collectors for working assiduously towards the target set for 2011.

He disclosed that the Assembly had realised GH¢130,992.12 out of its revenue target of GH¢151,771.74 from local sources, within the first half of 2011.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Akim Swedru, the DCE attributed the achievement to diligent and splendid efforts of staff of the District Finance Office and urged them not to rest on their oars.

Nana Mensah Dakyi said the Assembly had taken delivery of 41 motor bicycles from the Ministry of Local Government for the assembly members and that the cost was being deducted from the Assembly’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund.

He indicated that in view of the fact that Birim South which was curved out of the Birim Central Municipality was a young District, there was the need to put in place a special strategy to help solve the problems confronting the area and to improve the living conditions of the people.
