Security personnel intercept ammunition at Bawku–Napanduri post

Personnel from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Northern Region have confiscated about 1,000 pieces of short gun cartridges at a road checkpoint on the Bawku–Napanduri road.

They were concealed in yazz sanitary pad boxes.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, Mr Kweku Amaning Asamoah-Twum, Sector Commander for Northern Region, said on Sunday, August 14, this year, personnel on duty at the Napanduri barrier stopped the vehicle and during a search saw the boxes and asked the owners to open them for inspection.

The suspects, however, took to their heels.

Mr Asamoah-Twum said his outfit was collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders to complement government’s efforts to maintain peace in the area.
