Nkoranza South gives GH¢1,000 to renovate Kwabre SHS facility

Nkoranza South District Assembly has provided GH¢1,000.00 towards the renovation of existing facilities at Kwabre Senior High School (SHS) at Akuma to increase admissions next academic year.

The Kwabre SHS, a private institution, established by the Akuma community in the year 2007 is the second SHS in Nkoranza South District.

Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, District Chief Executive, announced this when he and Madam Philippa Banson, District Director of Education of the Area together with two other officers from the Ghana Education Service in Accra inspected the existing facilities at the school.

The delegation’s visit followed an appeal by the board of governors of the school for the Government to absorb the institution to enhance its development and growth.

Mr. Agyekum said the District Assembly would do its best to support and sustain the school as part of its social responsibility to the community and appealed to government to consider the plight of the youth and adopt the school.

Madam Banson commended the people for initiating the school project and encouraged parents in the area to enrol their children in the school.

She promised the District Directorate of Education would work hard to provide adequate staff in the school.

Mr. Agyapong Duah, Acting headmaster, said the four-year-old institution had 316 students, adding 85 final-year students would take part in the forthcoming West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.

Nana Asare Fofie, Acting Chairman of the School’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) pledged to offer more support to the school.
