Elubo gets new fire station

The chief, transporters, assembly members, opinion leaders and the people of Elubo have renovated a structure to serve as a Fire Service Station.

Their action followed persistent fire outbreaks in the border town.

The Ghana Fire Service station, is sited on the premises of the Elubo branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).

Elubo, a major marketing centre in the Jomoro District, has within seven months experienced two major fire outbreaks that caused extensive damage to property, especially those belonging to traders.

Mr Stephen Oscar Cobbina, the Western Regional Fire Officer, presented a new fire tender costing 400,000 dollars to the station and advised the communities to cooperate and support the Fire Service personnel at the station.

He appealed to the people to desist from activities that could result in fire outbreak.

The Presiding Member for Jomoro, Mr. Ehwie Armah, urged traders to desist from using naked fire in their shops as well as refraining from using inferior cables for wiring.
