Ga-Dangme Community in UK to celebrate joint Homowo

The GaDangme Community in the United Kingdom (UK) would organize a joint Homowo Festival to emphasise the spirit of unity.

A statement issued to GNA in Accra on Monday said the decision taken over six months ago was even more poignant given the recent situation in Accra where a raging chieftaincy dispute had seen the installation of least three Ga ‘Mantses’.

The statement issued by the Joint Organising Committee said the organisations that had made a firm commitment to the event included GaDangme Nikasem, Asafo, La Kpee, Leshie Kpee, and Bishop T Ga Club, with other smaller organizations providing a supporting role.

It said the event would be held at the Selby Centre, Selby Road, Tottenham, London, N17 8JL. It would be attended by Professor Danso Boafo, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK.

The statement said during Black History Month in the UK in October, the group would host the Homowo School, a series of lectures and learning workshops relating to GaDangme culture, traditions and progress.
