Bawku Police embark on special motor checking exercise

Twenty-three persons put before the Bawku circuit court for motorbike offences have been fined amounts between GH¢30 and GH¢300 or in default serve a jail term of three years.

Police Sergeant Raphael Azanyitiga said the convicts were arrested on July 5 and put before court the next day to serve as a warning to traffic offenders.

In line with this, the police in Bawku have embarked on a special exercise to arrest motorbike riders for not wearing crash helmets and use of unregistered motorbikes, he said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Adamu Seidu, Bawku Divisional Crime Officer, expressed concern at the high rate of indiscipline on the roads.
