UT Bank organizes games for workers

UT Bank at the weekend in Accra organized fun games dubbed, “UT Olympic 2011” for its workers across the country aimed at fostering unity and friendliness.

Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank, said the fun games signified team-building among workers since it represented their core values and was under the theme: “Ubuntu-Together as one”.

He said the word “Ubuntu” which was of South African origin signified family spirit, and loosely translated as, “I am who I am because of you” in that it takes the idea of all to build a united team for success.

Mr Amoabeng noted that the ceremony was also to appreciate the sacrifice staffs make in serving customers and a challenge for them to work harder in achieving their targets.

According to him, the programme was also an opportunity for the workers to socialize, work together and help them know themselves better.

He said the forum would help the workers to exercise since a ‘sound mind’ requires some level of exercise adding, UT Bank believes that every customer was important, therefore adhere to its core values of respect, integrity and good customer relationship.

Mrs Sophia Lissah, Media and Public Relations Manager of UT Bank, said the programme witnessed over one thousand participants from its subsidiary companies like the UT Logistics in Tema, UT Properties in Real estate development and management, UT Collections in the field of Debt Recovery, UT Private Security UT Financial Services in Nigeria and Germany.

She said the staffs were divided into four teams; respect team, step up the plate team, why not team and the integrity team which represented the company’s core values.

Mrs Lissah said some of the disciplines included football, basketball, tag of peace, 100 metre race, and a musical chair dance.

She said as part of the activities, it organized health screening for its members to be tested for blood pressure, cholesterol and HIV/AIDS.

The integrity team emerged the overall winners in the competition with 69 marks, followed by the Step up the Plate with 68 marks, the Respect team were third with 67 marks while the why not team came forth with 46 marks. A trophies was given to the first, second and third placed teams.

Mrs Lissah thanked UT customers for keeping faith with the Bank and promised to deliver better services to improve the rapport between the two parties.
