Mankessim Secondary/Technical PTA embarks on projects

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Mankessim Secondary Technical School, is to provide the school with an Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre.

The project, which can accommodate 80 people, is estimated at GH¢77,000, and would be funded through PTA dues.

Mr Kenneth Kelly Essuman, Chairman of the PTA announced this at the Association’s meeting at Mankessim, on Tuesday.

He said currently, the PTA had been engaged in the construction of a GH¢99,000 assembly and dining Halls, which was nearing completion.

He said the PTA had also provided 1,000 plastic chairs for the school, at GH¢10,000, and had spent over GH¢24,000 on the construction of a fence wall to prevent intruders.

Mr Essuman also used the occasion to introduce the new Headmaster of the school, Mr Kingsley Kweku Arthur.

In an address, Mr Arthur expressed concern about the encroachment of the school lands by estate developers.

He said records indicated that 89.4 acres of land was allocated to the School by the chiefs of Mankessim but the land size had reduced to 68.4 acres through encroachment.

Mr Arthur commended the government for providing three storey classroom blocks for the school.

He said work on the building had been completed and the keys handed over to the school authorities and awaiting its inauguration.

The Headmaster said the School has acquired some tables and benches to sit all the students during dining.
