Telecoms subscribers in Cape Coast rush to register SIM Cards

There was near stampede at the Cape Coast offices of the various telecom companies as subscribers desperately joined long queues to register their SIM cards to beat the June 30 deadline.

Miss Angelina Dadzie, a sales agent of TIGO told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the upsurge was as a result of the fear of subscribers losing their phone numbers and regretted that most people failed to provide identification cards, making it difficult for them to register.

Miss Francisca Bilson, a level 100 Student at the Nurses and Midwifery Training College said due to her tight schedule she was enable to register early.

At the Airtel office, Percy Akoto, a Territory Sales Executive said due to the presence of registration agents in town the pressure had gone down a bit at the office.

Mrs Akosua Aidoo, a nursing mother and a banker, lauded the reason behind the registration, but called on the companies to devise measures that would make it less cumbersome.

Kenneth Asiedu, a Sales Executive at the Expresso office was of the hope that subscribers would cooperate and provide the required identity cards to ensure a successful exercise.
