Frequent theft of mobile phones, money at Holy Family Hospital

There have been series of theft of mobile phones and money from patients and staff at different wards at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital by unidentified persons in the night for the past two months.

A report has been made to the Nkawkaw Police by the Hospital Authorities but no arrests have been made so far.

Meanwhile, management of the hospital have put in place stringent measures to arrest the situation and have also promised to compensate the victims.

According to the Administrator of the Hospital, Mr Stephen Aboagye, the first incident occurred at the maternity ward about two months ago when an unidentified person entered the ward at night and took away a hand bag of a midwife on duty, removed GH¢10 from it and later abandoned it.

He said a few weeks later, the unidentified person again went to the emergency ward where he stole four mobile phones and GH¢80 from some patients and staff at the ward.

The thief later went to the Fevers Unit and took away GH¢2 from a patient.

Mr Aboagye said three days ago the unidentified person sneaked into the Children’s Ward in the night and stole nine mobile phones from relatives of patients and staff at the ward.

He said security personnel on duty chased the thief but he was able to jump over the wall to escape arrest.
