All should accept to act responsibly to grow Ghana’s democracy

The District Chief Executive for Sekyere East, Mr Samuel Adjei, has asked all Ghanaians to accept to act more responsibly to grow the country’s democracy.

They should shun intolerance, insults, threats and intimidation of those they perceive as political opponents.

Mr Adjei was speaking at a forum organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Effiduase to climax this year’s constitution week celebration.

“The State of Ghana’s Democracy, 2011” was the theme for the occasion.

The DCE said it was also important they made conscious efforts to study the constitution to have better understanding of their fundamental freedoms and civic responsibilities.

Mr Victor Nuworkpor, the District NCCE Director, urged the people to participate actively in local governance.

Additionally, they should always ensure that they put the nation ahead of individual convenience.

Mr Todemeho Missinou, the District Electoral Officer, appealed to political leaders to be circumspect in their utterances to help maintain the peace and stability of the nation.
