Ghana needs a Healthy Human Resource -Prez Mills

President John Atta Mills

President John Evans Atta Mills on Friday said more health facilities would be built to enhance access to healthcare in the country.

“A healthy human resource is a necessity for the development of Ghana and that there was the need to put up more health facilities and to train more health personnel for a sound and healthy nation. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had come to do that since health care was the foundation of the Better Ghana Agenda.

President Mills was inaugurating a three semi-detached Nurses quarters at Akyem Manso in the Birim Central Municipality on Thursday.

Mr Erasmus E.A. Agongo, Eastern Regional Director of Health, on behalf of the nurses, thanked the President and his government for making health one of the main pillars of the Better Ghana Agenda.

He entreated the beneficiaries to make good use of the facility and to properly maintain in order to justify the construction of more projects for them.

The Paramount Chief of Akyem Manso, Obrempong Sintim Poku III, expressed gratitude to the President and asked that a bigger clinic be constructed in the area for the benefit of all.

He said he was ready to offer a 60- acre land to the government for the project if only the government was prepared.

Obrempong Sintim Poku III indicated that more educational facilities should be put up in the area since “education was a weapon against poverty.”

He also applauded teachers in the area for their selfless sacrifices in spite of the challenges they faced.
