Fake medical doctor arrested at Enyan Abaasa

The Enyan Abaasa Police have arrested a man believed to be in his 50s for allegedly posing as a medical doctor.

A police spokesman said the suspect Anthony Amoasi, was arrested following a report made by Ms Susana Bill, a medical assistant at the Enyan Abaasa Health Centre.

The spokesman said Amoasi said that he was a medical doctor at Tarkwa Aboso and had come to look for a land to construct a private mortuary at Enyan Abaasa.

According to the Police, Amoasi was said to have been parading himself in the town as a medical officer and people approached him to receive medical attention.

The police said the fake medical officer was said to have given out doubtful prescriptions to people who visited him.

The spokesperson said Amoasi was arrested and when his room was searched, medical equipment were found.

After interrogations, it was revealed that Amoasi was a mortuary man at a hospital in a town in the Western Region.

According to the Police further interrogations also revealed that Amoasi went to some towns in the area, mobilizing women to register to form groups to enable them receive soft loans from the government.

Amoasi would be arraigned before Court at Ajumako next week, the Police spokesperson said.
