No more strikes in Polytechnics – Rectors assure

The Conference of Rectors of Polytechnics (CORP), has assured that there would be no more strikes in the Polytechnics like before.

The Reverend Professor Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, Chairman of CORP, and Rector of the Takoradi Polytechnic, gave the assurance at the opening session of the Conference of Rectors of Polytechnics in Koforidua on Monday.

He said the image of the Polytechnics had changed, “and we want our presence to be felt in the society….”

Rev. Prof Nyarko indicated that the main objective of the Polytechnics now was to make the Campuses safe for skill and practical development of the Ghanaian youth.

He expressed the hope that all problems concerning the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) would be resolved before the migration of Polytechnics staff onto it.

Rev. Professor Nyarko said the CORP was not against the migration of Polytechnic staff onto the Integrated Personal Payroll Data (IPPD) but rather wanted that all problems were resolved before the migration.

The annual conference aims to promote good relationship among Polytechnics in the country and to provide leadership for quality educational delivery as well as reviewing its dealings with the government on all aspects of Polytechnic education.
