Storms damages schools and personal property in Bongo

Mr Clement Akugre, the Bongo District Chief Executive, on Tuesday inspected some schools and houses in the District that got damaged following a rain storm last Saturday.

The roofs of the buildings were ripped off and the hardest hit was the Feo Awiisi Primary School.

The roof of all six classrooms, an office and the Junior High school were ripped off.

The inspection team also visited Agomo Primary School where the roof of a block of three classrooms and the head teacher’s office were also ripped off.

The DCE assured the teachers and pupils of a quick intervention to re-roof the schools to enable the children go back to the classroom.

He appealed to NADMO to assist the people who were still recovering from the loss so that they could have decent places to lay their heads.

The team also inspected broken down culverts and roads on the Bongo-Feo-Namoo roads which made travel around the district difficult.

Mr Akugre said the roads were narrow and this made it difficult for large trucks from neighbouring countries to use.

Mr Samuel Kyei Mensah, Area Manager, Ghana High ways Authority, said the road had been awarded on contract and a second reshaping was being done with an additional assignment for the contractor to work on the culverts.
