The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mfantseman East, Mr George Kuntu Blankson has cut the sod for commencement of work on GHC 50,000 Information Communication and Technology Centre at Ekumfi Essuehyia, near Mankessim.

The project, which would accommodate 200 people at a time, would be funded by the Community-Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Blankson, who is also the Deputy Majority Chief Whip, urged the citizens of Ekumfi Traditional Area to take ICT very serious, to enable them to become computer literate.

The MP said he would do all it takes to furnish the centre with the necessary equipment to make learning of the subject comfortable.

Mr Blankson appealed to the schools in the area to plan a schedule for the pupils, to enable them to have access to the centre.

Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive commended the MP for providing all the Junior High Schools in the constituency with computers.

He appealed to the schools to take good care of the facility to enable the pupils to start working on computers before the centre was completed.

The MCE stressed that with the fast changing world in technology, people who were not computer literate would soon find life difficult.
