MP urges constituents to invest cocoa kilo proceeds

The chiefs and elders of Twifo Atti Morkwa Constituency have been advised to use the proceeds from the cocoa beans kilo deduction concept to support projects in their communities.

Mrs Elizabeth Amoah Tetteh, Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency who made the appeal at the end of her 15-day tour of communities in her constituency, also asked them to be law abiding, practice family planning and give quality education to the girl child.

The MP who is also the Deputy Minister of Education appealed to the youth to desist from engaging in pre-marital sex to avoid unwanted pregnancies because this could terminate their education at a premature stage.

Some of the 36 communities she visited included No1 Otuano Camp, Afedzi, Taylorkrom, Dwendama, Amakrom all in the Praso Municipality.

Others are Abodwesa, Ntafrewaso, Datano, Mampong and Kenkuase.

Accompanied by party executives, the district Feeder Road Engineer, Mr Kojo Debrah, Mr Christian Nimako, District Electricity Company Manager, and Mr Emmanuel Moro, the 2010 Best District Farmer, she inspected a number of feeder roads under construction.

The chiefs, elders and assemblymen of the host communities, in varied ways, commended the MP for her tremendous role in initiating development projects in the communities.

They thanked her for the judicious use of her Common Fund, which had facilitated the development of education, health, agriculture, roads and other social economic activities and human resource of the area.

Mr Joseph Andoh, DCE for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, informed the branch executives of the NDC about various developmental projects under execution in the district.

He said the reshaping, re-gravelling and spot filling of some of the major roads had been awarded to contractors.

They include the Twifo Praso-Dunkwa road and Bipoben-Ayiase.

The tour of the communities was climaxed with a sod cutting for the construction of a six unit classroom block for Asensohu Agave and the commissioning of an office for the MP at Twifo Praso.
