Ghanaian leaders should be mindful of utterances – Reverend

The 89th Presbytery Conference of the Ashanti Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has opened in Kumasi with a call on Ghanaian leaders to exercise circumspection in their utterances.

The Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, Chairperson of the Presbytery, noted that recent political talks and subsequent societal responses should give cause for concern by all well -meaning Ghanaians.

“It is evidently clear that once violence in any form starts, it spreads like wild fire thereby quenching it becomes a Herculean task”, the Chairperson said.

The seven-day Presbytery which is being held on the theme: “Empowered by the Holy Spirit,” will among other things take stock of its activities in order to adopt new strategies to improve on the church’s performance.

Rev Opuni-Frimpong noted that under the guidance of the Presbytery, Youth Services were being encouraged in all the districts to increase the membership drive of the church.

He said the time has come for the church to embrace programmes that were youth-friendly to attract more souls for the mission.

The Chairperson announced that efforts had been stepped up to elevate a majority of the Presbyterian churches to full district status to enhance good management.

Rev Seth Dugbartey Adzokatse, Asokwa District Minister of the church, said the church was happy to host this year’s Presbytery and urged members to take seriously issues that would come up for discussion to promote its objectives.
