South Africa’s net reserves over $44b at end of March

South Africa’s net gold and foreign exchange reserves stood at $44.725 billion at the end of March from $44.775 billion in February, data from the Reserve Bank showed on Thursday.

Gross reserves increased to $49.266 billion in March from $47.311 billion, the central bank said in a statement posted on its website.

The forward position, which represents the bank’s unsettled spot or swap transactions, was at $4.087 billion compared with $4.051 billion in February.
