Ghana stocks dip on Ecobank, Guinness losses

The GSE-Composite Index (GSE-CI), the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange, fell 9.95 points to close at 1,059.07 points from 1,069.02 points.

The year-to-date now stands at 5.91 per cent.

The GSE-Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI), which tracks the performance of listed financial stocks, also gained 9.69 points to 1,037.37 points from 1,047.06 points with a year-to-date change of 3.74 per cent.

Three equities were on the downside while UT Bank was the sole gainer.

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated fell GH¢0.01 to GH¢ 0.14, Ecobank Ghana was down GH¢0.01 to GH¢3.52 and Guinness Ghana Limited dipped GH¢0.09 to GH¢1.25.

UT Bank was the sole gainer for the session, up GH¢0.02 to GH¢0.31.

Market capitalisation closed the session down at GH¢ 19,856.90 million from GH¢19,967.12.

Some 1.1 million shares worth GH¢1.04 million were traded during the session.
