Kassena Nankana undertake development projects

Mr Emmanuel Andema, District Chief Executive of Kassena Nankana East Assembly, on Wednesday said contractors who use inferior materials to execute their contracts would not be considered for contracts.

Mr Andema said this when he inspected projects the District Assembly is undertaking throughout the district.

He expressed dissatisfaction at a six-unit classroom block at Nangalikinia L/A Primary School being constructed by Abaluk Evalium Construction for its inability to complete the project on schedule.

Mr Andema and his team inspected a rehabilitation centre built at a cost of GH¢62,000.00 for people with disability at Namolo and it has four offices and two halls.

The team inspected 15 boreholes at the Balobia Primary School though the contractor, Alminas Construction, had not been paid for the six-unit classroom block  at a cost of GH¢150,000.00 by GETFund, the project was ahead of schedule with only painting works left to be done.

The team met workers evacuating rubbish damps to clear the district of filth at “Sissala line” in Navrongo and inspected a GH¢29,000.00 classroom block funded from the District Development Fund.

At Bonia Primary, a six-unit classroom block, library, head teacher’s office and a staff common room built at a cost of GH¢150,000.00 that was funded by GETFund and awarded in January is underway.

The team also inspected the Navrongo Butcher’s shop to assess the shop and possible ways of improving on the existing structure. He said the District Assembly was pursuing the procurement processes and the shop would be rehabilitated soon.

The team inspected the first phase of the Navrongo Lorry Station which is near completion.
