Community residents spends GH¢ 120,000 on development projects

Residents of Busunya, capital of Nkoranza North District, spent about GH¢ 120,000 on development projects between 2009 and 2010.

The projects included the construction of a Post Office, a Community Information Centre, the provision of street lights and the re-gravelling of the main streets in the town.

Oheneba Kingsley Yeboah, chairman of Busunya Central Committee, announced this when the committee rendered account of its stewardship during the period under review at the weekend.

He said the people realized resources from a fund-raising harvest and levies and commended them for their communal labour spirit, which he advised must be maintained to enhance the development of the district.

Oheneba Yeboah disclosed that the people would organise another fund-raising harvest on Easter Sunday, April 24, to generate more resources to complete on-going development projects.

Special levies of GH¢5.00 per male and GH¢3.00 per female have been imposed on residents while non-residents will pay GH¢10.00 and GH¢50.00 respectively.

The committee chairman said private businessmen and women who could not attend communal labour activities in the town would also contribute GH¢30.00 each in support.

Oheneba Yeboah urged the people to pay their contributions promptly and appealed to non-resident citizens to come home during Easter to contribute their quota.
