Let us collaborate to develop our district – MP
Mr Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Member of Parliament for the Saboba, has called on the district’s development partners to collaboration and unite to push the district’s development agenda forward.
He said collaboration, unity and oneness were the main tenets of development and urged all the district development partners, donor agencies as well as the local chiefs and people to help unveil any effort that could propel the district into a haven of investment.
Mr Nikpe who made the call at the district’s celebration of the 54th Independence anniversary at Saboba on Sunday, said politics should not to polarise the people to the detriment of the district’s development.
Several school children, teachers and some youth organizations took part in the 54th match past.
Mr Nikpe said development projects in the district, which included road construction, youth in agriculture programme, and electricity extension and water improvement had characterized government’s “year of action”.
On roads, Mr Nikpe mentioned the construction of Wapuli-Saboba road, Sanguli-Bukob, Liwalbu-Ugando, Kpalba-Kinabulk, Lifur-Kulkpagn, Wadul-Chakon, Saboba-Boagbaln and Saboba-Sunguli roads which the government was funding to help improve living conditions in the district.
He announced that government would continue to subsidize fertilizers to farmers and that the fertilizer coupon system would be done away with to ensure sanity in the system.
He said the youth in agriculture programme would also be expanded while many people would also receive ruminants this year.
He said some 20 communities have been earmarked to be connected to national grid while the “Overseas” were also going to receive solar panels adding, “engineers are already examining the situation for the solar energy connection”.
Mr Nikpe expressed regret about the poor water supply in Saboba since “ the government had provided two pumping machines within two years but unfortunately, they all could not work beyond two months and as such aggravated the problem.”
He said at the moment two additional pumps had been bought and very soon the Saboba water problem would be solved and advised the people to constantly monitor and watch so that the district’s development detractors would not temper with pumps when they are installed.
On education, the MP pledged to offer scholarship to ten best girls and five boys in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) while he would extend his holiday classes sponsorship to cover Senior High students.
