Participants call for establishment of GIPC offices in Eastern Region

Participants at a workshop organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) have called for the location of an office in the Eastern Region to enable business organizations in the area to benefit from their facilities.

The request was made at a one day workshop GIPC organised for companies in the area.

The workshop was aimed at encouraging business organizations in the region to come out with their business profiles and register with the GIPC in order to benefit from its facilities.

The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Asamoah, promised GIPC an office space in Koforidua.

In a speech read on his behalf the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, called on the GIPC to extend the workshop to other parts of the region.

He said that no matter the volume of foreign investment that the country attracts, if the nation fails to promote indigenous investment, the country’s socio-economic growth would be slowed.

Mr Isaac Okine of GIPC said GIPC was inviting projects for screening, selection and direct promotion on international investment markets.

Mr Okine said last year, GIPC was able to identify 130 investment projects, repackaged them for promotion in the international market for joint ventures, loans and access to markets.

He said the businesses identified covered agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, ICT, services and tourism, infrastructure development, construction, energy, oil and mining.
