Sefwi-Wiawso gets farmers’ business centre

A Farmers’ Business Centre to provide advisory services to cocoa farmers to increase crop yield and returns has been inaugurated at Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western Region.

The Centre will also make available to farmers timely access to market information in terms of production inputs.

Mr Emmanuel Dormon, Director of the Centre, said it was time farmers adopted a more business-like approach to farming.

He said although the facility had been set-up primarily to help cocoa farmers, it would provide every necessary support to those who were not into cocoa farming.

Mr Dormon said he was confident that with the inauguration of the centre, there would be tremendous growth in the production levels of cocoa in the Sefwi-Wiawso area.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Stephen Kofi Mensah, urged farmers to patronize the facility to achieve optimal yield and profitability.

He spoke of plans to improve the feeder road network to avoid the situation where farm produce got locked-up.

He also underlined the determination of the District Assembly to encourage more people into rice production.
