Ghana’s Nyantakyi takes decisions at first CAF Executive Committee meeting

Ghana’s Football Association President, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi who took office February 24, 2011 as CAF Executive member has taking a number of decisions bothering on the progress of football on the continent.

Following the CAF 33rd Ordinary General Assembly, the Executive Committee held its first meeting on February 24 in Khartoum, Sudan.

Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, together with his colleagues on the Committee chaired by Mr Issa Hayatou discussed and approved the progress report on Gabon and Equatorial Guinea’s preparations to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012.

The Executive Committee expressed its satisfaction with progress made so far in both countries. The ongoing qualifiers will end on October 9, 2011.

According to information on cafonline.com, the executive committee also expressed it’s satisfaction on reports on the final tournament of the last U-17 held in Rwanda and Super Cup held in Lubumbashi, DR Congo

On CHAN, which ends on Friday, the Executive Committee expressed its satisfaction with the level of competition, congratulated the host country for providing the necessary support to stage a successful competition in Sudan.

Nyantakyi is the fifth Ghanaian after Ohene Djan (1961-1966), Kobina Hagan (1961-1962), Nana Fredua Mensah (1968-1972) and Samuel Okyere (1990-1994) to sit on the Executive Committee of the continent’s soccer governing body.
