Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate advises the public on cholera outbreak

Cholera is widespread in the Accra metropolis, the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate of Ghana Health Service on Wednesday warned the public.

In a statement issued in Accra it said, “More people are getting infected with the disease”.

The Directorate therefore advised the public to protect themselves with a number of measures including; a rush to the nearest hospital whenever you experience diarrhea with or without vomiting.

They should wash their hands with soap and water before eating, cooking and after visiting the toilet, they should wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly with water before eating.

Eat cooked food while warm or hot, drink safe water or boil their drinking water, cover foods to avoid dust and flies and buy cooked food only from clean environment, keep their environment clean and use proper toilet or latrine.
