Minimum wage up by 20%

The daily minimum wage has inched up by 20 per cent, the National Tripartite Committee in consultation with the National Daily Minimum Wage announced on Monday.

The committee increased the new wage from the GH¢3.11 to GH¢3.73.

Reading a communiqué at a press conference to announce the upward adjustment of the wage in Accra, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, Deputy Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, said the effective date of implementation was February 15.

The communiqué was jointly signed by Mr Alex Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Employers Association, Mr Kofi Asamoah, General Secretary of the Ghana Trades Union Congress and the Employment Minister.

Mr Sekyere advised stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of the new wage.
