Coach Duncan sets sight on local Black Stars players

Black Meteors Coach, David Duncan has set his sight on some players of the local Black Stars despite the team’s dumping at the ongoing Championship of African Nations in the Sudan.

The Meteors are preparing for the qualifiers of the All African Games later in the year and coach Duncan told GNA Sports getting those players would improve quality at all departments of his squad.

Coach Duncan will, however, keep the names of the targeted players to his chest until after due diligence by his technical team has been done but insists the quality of the identified players was strong enough to merit them first team place in the 26-man team currently preparing for the duel against Benin.

“Their names will be made available only after due diligence. We will have to be sure they fall within the age category among other things.

“Without doubt, these players I’m talking about have every quality to be first team materials here but for the fact that others have started preparations earlier than us. One cannot claim to have the finality of a team until the first game”.

Coach Duncan who is excited about the prospect of getting the players on board said, “their quality is good and if they are available it will make me spoilt for choice in every department in the team.”

Ghana, bronze medalist at the Barcelona Olympic Games struggled to make an impact at the last All African Games in 2007 and subsequently failed to qualify for the Beijing Olympics a year after.
