Communities in Ahanta West District to be connected to electricity

Thirty-three communities in the Ahanta West District would be connected to the national electricity grid by the end of this year, Mr Joseph Jones Amoah, the District Chief Executive, has said.

Speaking at a meeting with the Ahanta Traditional Council at Busua he said some of the communities earmarked to benefit from the government emergency power supply project included Cape Three Point, Chavene, Duahorozo, Asemasa, Ampatano, Asamko, Fasin, Kwamekrom, Old Akwidaa and New Akwidaa.

He said the Ministry of Energy had dispatched officials to the district to conduct feasibility studies on how to start the project.

Touching on the poor road network in the district, Mr. Amoah said some of the roads had been awarded on contract for re-shaping to help farmers cart their farm produce from the hinterlands to the commercial centres.

The Princess Akatakyie and Cape Three Point roads had been awarded to Akonsi Limited and Old Days Limited respectively for re-shaping.

Mr Amoah said non-performing contractors would be blacklisted.
