GES accountants warned against corrupt practices

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has warned of severe sanctions against accountants who engage in financial malfeasance.

Mr Eric Acquah, Ashanti Regional Accountant of the Service, said there was no way offenders would be protected.

Addressing the about 500 members of the regional association of education accountants at an end-of-year get-together in Kumasi, he drew attention to the need for the submission of financial returns regularly and on time.

Mr Acquah encouraged the executives of the association to organize training programmes for its members to help upgrade their professional competence.

Mr E.K. Essuman, the immediate past GES Regional Accountant, urged his counterparts to stick to the right accounting practices and procedures.

He also advised them to start planning towards their retirement, saying, there should be no time to waste.

Mr Yaw Oti-Boateng, Chairman of the association asked members to take advantage of the association’s credit union to improve on their living standards.
