USAID provides funds for educational project

USAID is funding an educational project known as Partnership for Accountable Governance in Education (PAGE) designed to assist the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service to achieve the basic goals of the Education Strategic Plan.

The project is also aimed at ensuring improved student achievement through strengthened education, governance and supervision.

The PAGE project would ensure the promotion of the roles and responsibilities of the District Education Oversight Committees, School Management Committees and Parent/Teacher Associations, whilst circuit supervisors would ensure effective supervision.

Care International–Ghana is the facilitating agency to the project and the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education would ensure its successful implementation.

Mr. George Appiah, Co-ordinator of the project, said this at a one day workshop at Nkoranza for stakeholders of education in the Nkoranza South District.

He said 46 districts had been selected for the project and it was the responsibility of the District Assemblies and the Education Directorates to ensure that stakeholders played their roles for the success of the project.

Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, gave assurance that since education was a critical factor in every developmental process the Assembly would do its best to support the project to succeed.

Madam Philippa Banson, District Directorate of Education, appealed to officers at the directorate to collaborate efforts towards the successful implementation of the PAGE project.
