Rehabilitation work is progressing steadily on the Birim Bridge at Akyem Oda that the Ghana Highways Authority is undertaking at a cost of GH¢ 210,000.
The work is expected to be completed within three months.
This came to light when Ms Ophelia Koomson, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, inspected progress of work on the bridge.
Mr Courage Yakubu, Project Manager, Bridge Maintenance Unit, Ghana Highways Authority, said the rehabilitation included repair of steel structures and construction of two decks.
Ms Koomson expressed gratitude to the government for rehabilitating the bridge and appealed to the government to consider constructing a new bridge in future to replace the present one.
