Government pays over GH¢23m bonus to cocoa farmers

The government has released an amount of GH¢23,426,637.57 to the Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) for the payment of bonuses to the country’s cocoa farmers.

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) says the funds will cover the first tranche of bonus payment to cocoa farmers in January 2011.

Farmers will be paid an amount of GH¢40 per tonne of 16 bags or GH¢2.50 per bag of 64kg of cocoa.
