Driver fined GH¢180 for speeding

The Suhum Magistrate court presided over by Mrs. Comfort Sarpong has sentenced a 32 year old Taxi Driver to a fine of GH¢180 for speeding.

The accused person, Obo Adai, charged with speeding and failing to stop, pleaded guilty with explanation but his explanation was not accepted by the court.

According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Samuel Agyei of MTTU, on their normal motor traffic monitoring at Tetteh Nkwanta near Suhum, the accused person who was driving from Koforidua towards Suhum at a high speed was stopped by the police but failed to stop.

He was therefore chased to Suhum roundabout where he was arrested.

Chief Inspector Agyei said the accused who became offended rained insults on the police personnel and was therefore charged with the offence.

The presiding magistrate warned that drivers must ensure that they observe traffic regulations to avoid accidents and that any driver brought to the court for negligence leading to accident would not be spared.
