Polytechnic adds Bachelor of Technology to its academic programmes

Kumasi Polytechnic has added Bachelor of Technology degree in civil engineering and building technology to its academic courses, the Rector, Prof Nicholas Nicodemus Nana Nsowah-Nuamah, has said.

He said by the end of next year, most of the departments of the polytechnic would receive accreditation to pursue Bachelor Degree programmes alongside Higher National Diplomas (HND).

Prof Nsowah- Nuamah was speaking at the matriculation ceremony for 3909 students, made up of 2,681 males and 1,228 females.

The polytechnic received 6,220 qualified applications but due to limited resources, 2,311 of the applicants, who otherwise have the potential for self-development, were denied admission.

Prof Nsowah-Nuamah said the polytechnic had embarked on major expansion of their facilities so as to absorb more students.
`
Their goal, he said, was not only to offer students intellectual training but help them to acquire basic moral qualities as well.

The Rector advised the fresh students to work hard on their books and resist the temptation to indulge in examination malpractices, warning that, those caught doing that would be dismissed.

Prof Nsowah-Nuamah said the polytechnic would not compromise on discipline and that it would make sure that rules and regulations were enforced.
