Nigerian wins Millennium Excellence Awards Black Star of Africa

Mr Amaechi Nelili of Nigeria, 2010 Black Star of Africa winner of Millennium Excellence Awards on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Mr Joe Gidisu, Minister of Roads and Highways in Accra.

Mr Nelili is in Ghana to receive the Black Star of Africa Prize of the Millennium Excellence Awards, the highest Awards for Entrepreneurship on Saturday December 4.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of Lion Gates of Nigeria, an entrepreneur who had undertaken many developmental projects impacting on about two million Nigerians.

Mr Gidisu said government had set a target to improve the road infrastructure in the country next year.

He said government would collaborate with private companies to construct a flyover on the Accra-Tema motorway to ease the heavy traffic jam adding,” the road sector is pivotal to the country’s development”.

He announced that government had signed various agreements with the World Bank (WB), European Union (EU) and African Development Bank (AfDB) to assist in developing the country’s infrastructure.

Mr Nelili said Ghana had always been the beacon of Africa and cited her fledging democracy as worthy of emulation by other African countries.

He commended Ghana and Nigeria for fostering growth and development in peace and stability.

Mr Nelili noted that through democracy, peace and unity a country could increase its foreign investment towards infrastructural development.
