Man arrested for selling pistol without license

The Police in the Eastern Region have arrested one Fotuo Yakubu for offering for sale, a pistol without authority on Friday at Akoase near Nkawkaw.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Koforidua on Sunday, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia Yeboah, said on the day of the incident at about 1300 hours, the Akoase police had a tip off that the suspect was offering for sale a pistol.

He said the Police immediately moved to the scene and arrested the suspect in possession of the pistol.

The police PRO said during a search, seven rounds of ammunition and another seven rounds of BB cartridges were found on the accused.

Inspector Nketia-Yeboah said the suspect also led the police to his room where one military bayonet and a pair of pliers were found.

He said the suspect had since been detained for possession of firearm without authority.
