Trade Ministry selects WIENCO Ghana to buy seed cotton

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has selected WIENCO (GH) Limited to handle the purchase of all seed cotton produced under the aegis of the Ministry’s Cotton Support Programme.

The management of WIENCO would therefore work with the various cotton companies to undertake the purchase of seed cotton from the farmers and make arrangements for the processing of the raw cotton into lint cotton.

A statement issued by the Ministry in Accra on Monday signed by Mr Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, said “all agencies and companies that collaborated with Ministry under the Cotton Support Programme are directed to collaborate with WIENCO (GH) Limited to ensure a smooth and successful seed cotton purchase, ginning and evacuation exercise.”

“Ministry of Trade and Industry urges all collaborating agencies and companies to take steps to comply with this directive,” it added.
