Miliband pledges to review Labour policies

David Miliband

Miliband told the paper he is launching the party, in opposition for the first time in 13 years after losing May’s election, on the “hard road back to power.”

He said Labour needs to commit to changes in policy and organisation as profound as those brought in by former leader Tony Blair in 1994.

Miliband told the newspaper in his first full interview since becoming party leader that a 50 percent tax rate for those earning more than 150,000 pounds a year should be permanent, going further than the shadow chancellor’s description of the top tax rate as “right for now.”

A review of the party may include a commission on the party organisation, including a review of the rules under which he was elected, and the role of the unions, who are long-time backers of the Labour party.
