Court fines 21 drivers GH¢2,160 for traffic offences

A Magistrate Court at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality, has imposed a total fine of GH¢2,160 on 21 drivers for road traffic offences.

A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of 10 drivers who failed to appear in court.

The prosecution told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that on November 15, this year the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Akim Oda Divisional Police embarked on especial traffic operations to arrest offending drivers.

He said 31 drivers were arrested during the operations.

The prosecution said the offences included driving without relevant documents, driving without warning triangle; fire extinguishers and with expired roadworthy and insurance certificates.

He said driving with damaged windscreens, over speeding and overloading also constituted traffic offences.
