Ghana Police yet to confirm Kombian’s arrest – DSP Ofori

Reports of the arrest of notorious criminal and alleged murderer of police officers Johnson Kombian is yet to be confirmed.

Head of the Ghana Police Public Relations Unit, DSP Kwesi Ofori has told ghanabusinessnews.com on the phone that the Ghana Police authorities are yet to send men to Togo to verify if indeed the person in custody is Kombian.

Kombian is being sought for escaping prison a number of times, and for the alleged shooting of some police men resulting in their deaths.

He fled into neighbouring Togo when the Ghana Police mounted an operation to capture him and he has since been on the ‘wanted list’ of both the Ghana Police and INTERPOL.

Incidentally, DSP Ofori said if indeed, he is the person sought, then his arrest has coincided with burial today November 20, 2010 of Constable Agyare, one of the police men he allegedly shot.
