Ghana stocks rise on GCB gain

The GSE All-Share Index, the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange, closed Wednesday’s session up by 15.5 points to close at 6,823.82 points.

The rise brings the gains so far this year to 22.46 per cent.

There were two gainers and two losers.

Gainers for the session were Total Petroleum Ghana (TOTAL) which was up by GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢9.40 and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), which went up by GH¢0.05 to close at GH¢2.05.

Laggards were SG-SSB, which was down by GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢0.58, and Golden Star Resources (GSR), which fell by GH¢0.20 at GH¢5.90.

UT Bank was the most active stock during the session with investors offloading more than 29.23 million shares.

A total of 30.19 million shares were traded, valued at GH¢9.57 million.

Market Capitalisation closed the session at GH¢19,861.03 million.
