Industrialist calls for push towards industrialization

Nana Kwame Asante-Frimpong, an Industrialist, has urged academic boards of tertiary institutions to give the needed attention to entrepreneurship training for job creation.

He said if the nation was to make headway in solving the growing unemployment and rising poverty levels, then entrepreneurship must be the way forward.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Friday, Nana Asante-Frimpong, who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwabre, asked the Government to focus on ways to promote the country’s industrialization.

He said it was regrettable that successive governments had failed to institute clear policies to address the nation’s industrial needs, adding that, this had led to the situation where “Ghana imports almost everything and produces virtually nothing”.

Nana Asante-Frimpong, also the Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo Regional Manager of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), said  it was high time economists and Government brainstormed on how to transform the manufacturing sector to become the main growth pillar.

He encouraged members of the AGI to visit the newly inaugurated website of the AGI, which would help to facilitate their businesses.

Nana Asante-Frimpong said the advocacy role of the Association should also be sustained.
