More communities in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District to get electricity

As part of Government’s plan for a better Ghana, its promise to extend power to majority of the people shall be fulfilled, Mr Peter Light Koomson, District Chief Executive for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam has said.

Addressing the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly at Ajumako, Mr Koomson said two electrification projects have been instituted to provide electricity to the people in the district.

He said under project one, electricity will be extended to every part of communities currently without power, and mentioned Osedze and Abrofoa as beneficiary towns so far.

Under the project two about 24 communities will be hooked to the national electrification grid with others to follow later, he said.

The DCE therefore entreated assembly members of beneficiary communities to inform the chiefs and people to get prepared.

Mr Koomson said it had come to the notice of the Assembly that some unscrupulous people were going round collecting various sums of money ranging from 100.00 to 300.00 Ghana Cedis to provide meters to newly-connected households.

He said under all the electrification projects, inhabitants from these communities were advised not to pay any money to anybody.

Mr Koomson said the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) had been tasked to collect the meter charge of 0.58 Ghana cedis for single phase and 1.16 Ghana cedis for three phase meters.

He said the ECG had also been tasked to educate the beneficiary communities about these requirements and therefore urged assembly members to assist.
