Government urged to provide adequate security to protect oil field

A seventy-four-year-old executive committee member of the True Faith Church at Kwahu Praso, Mr Isaac Ofori Koranteng, on Friday urged the government to provide adequate security to protect the country’s oil from being smuggled under the sea to neighbouring and distant countries.

He indicated that if adequate security was not provided at the country’s oil fields, a greater percentage of the crude oil to be drilled before the end of the year could be smuggled out of the country.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Kwahu Praso, Mr Koranteng said God revealed to him in a dream in July this year that a huge sum of money was being offered to some security personnel guarding one of the oil wells to allow their oil tankers to smuggle some of the crude oil.

He said the security personnel turned down the request and that one of them was killed and thrown into the sea during an exchange of fire.

Mr Koranteng said a few days after the first dream, he had another dream where he saw another batch of crude oil smugglers who confronted the commander of the security personnel guarding the oil field and asked his opinion about the crude oil deal but the commander left the smugglers without any compromise, after which he later woke up from the dream.

He said he had informed leaders of the church and that they had offered prayers over it and also called on other churches to offer similar prayers.
