Ghana records $662m investments in telecoms sector

Ghana’s telecoms sector has attracted about $662 million in investments in the second quarter of the year 2010, the Daily Graphic reports citing the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC).

The report attributed the development to the legislation governing the sector which has been well received by the business community, particularly businesses in the telecommunications sector.

It also noted that Ghana is said to have one of the fastest growing telecommunications sectors in Africa. Ghana is said to have teledensity of more than 60%. There are currently six telecoms companies licensed to do business in the country. These are MTN, Vodafone, Tigo, Kasapa, Zain and Glo, which is yet to start operations.
